Sorry, Charles! I thought you were looking for information -- records and such -- but it sounds like you are looking to reconnect with your family? I don't think I can help you with that specifically. :(

When I google "Gillispie" or "Gillespie" + "Boone County, WV", a good bit of stuff comes up. Maybe try that?

I grew up in that area, but haven't lived there in many years.

I'm gonna see if I can dig anything up for you. :)

Have you got access to ancestry.com?

Have you already tried the WV archives? I can point you towards them if not.

Also, it may only be a small point, but you have an ancestor who died at 'Cole River' -- it's the Coal River. :)

ETA: Just done a quick google search and do you know if you've (maybe) got kin buried at Barker Cemetery? I have kin buried there.

Hello, there! I grew up in that area.

What is it you're looking to find out?

Hello, y'all.

I am looking for information on Annie Belshaw (nee?) of Idlewells, Sutton-in-Ashfield.

What I've been able to find:

From The British Journal of Nursing Supplement, 4, August 1917...

Annie was a midwife, but was 'struck off the roll' and had her 'certificate cancelled' because she had performed an abortion which resulted in the death of a woman. She was sentenced to three years in prison.

From a couple of Notts newspapers...

In 1939, she was sentenced to seven years for manslaughter for performing an abortion which resulted in a death. Her age in 1939 is either 57 or 69. She was a widow, and was a shopkeeper at 16 Idlewells.

Ancestry gives me two possible Annies. ???

I would love to know more about her life and what happened to her after prison.

Can anybody point me to anything I could maybe find online? (I'm in the US.)

Thanks! :)

Oops! Sorry! I am TeaCozyDozy^. (Not sure when I started that account!)

Having looked at the findagrave links in the previous post, I think I must've been barking up the wrong tree there. Looks like your Alfred's dad is not Edward.

Flabnabbit! I searched FamilySearch and came up with nothing!

Thank you! :)

I like knowing that she likely remarried. (assuming that's her)
