Other Countries / Re: India, British Army - Simla, King/Golding

Hello Rose,
Yes you are correct about the other brother Ernest and a sister Maud. There were about 9 King births both in India and Victoria. Not all were Kings and not all survived. I'd say it was a particularly sad and difficult time for Ada. She lost her husband Thomas 4 months after landing in Australia in 1896, and then lost 3 children in just a few years, already losing 2 or 3 previously in India. She was 22 years old with no husband in a strange land. She was married at 15 to Thomas who was 30. I cant imagine how she coped, but bless her she lived to be 85!!
I know nothing about her but feel blessed that she was my great Grandma.
Talk again soon.
Sue

Thankyou barryd for your info and yes it lines up definately my Nanna and her family. I have since found out that when Thomas King married Ada Golding he was a widower...as it states on their marriage certificate. His Father's nmae was also Thomas King. Cant find any other info nor where he actually came from although I suspect that it was England. :( so hard sometimes.....

Oh Wow!!! Harold Edward King was my Nanna's brother. He married an amelia Gash? Is that correct. He died in 1998 and I am so sad I never knew he existed nor did my Mother. apparently my nanna must have taken a few skeletons to her grave. I have a family tree that I have done as best I can on Ancestry. If you send me your email in a private message I will add you to the tree so you can see it.

My Mother is still alive as is her brother my Uncle Paul. Mum is 90. She didnt know that Nanna had any brothers or sisters... weird hey and they were all in Victoria.
Anyhow nice to hear from someone who knows a family memeber, and I hope we speak again soon.
Bless
Sue Martin (western australia)

Hi Jack24 thats wonderful news. Did you know your grandmother Maud?
Did you access my ancestry tree? There is a photo of Maud and some of her children. Is your mother in there?

My Uncle Paul is still alive and lives in Victoria still also my mother Suzanne here in Western Australia, who would be your cousins.

Nice to have found a relative. I have sent you my email address previously and if you could share a pic or two with me that would be wonderful. Of course I would happily do the same.

I have Maud and Robert Gardam as having 9 children:
Betty
John
Maxwell
Quentin
Winifred
Evelyn
Ruth
Beryl
Joan

Is this correct or am I wrong. I would love your help to fix any mistakes. thanks
Sue

Maud was my Great Aunt my Nanna Edith Lillian's older sister. Nice to meet you. I didn't know until I started this search that my Nanna had any family at all let alone brothers and sisters. She never spoke of anyone, did yours? My mother had no idea that Nanna had a family alive in Victoria. It was most amazing to us to find this all out. Mum is 89 this year.
I have a family tree on Ancestry that I am happy to send you the link to if you would like to see what I have. You never know you may be able to solve the mystery of why we never knew... I will pm you with my email addy. :)
