Thanks for looking at that - it helps confirm what ive now been given.

Thanks to phil i know she was born out of wedlock and then her mum married, hence to two names.

i had been looking for bridgland, but she married as a mitchell.
and not in the place i had been looking, when i went back i found the record, i had discounted as not being her...

must say im so glad i found this site

which now gives me another headache, as my mum is adament that thwere were only four boys born to my G Grandparents and ive found 5....

but all the family photos show 4, and i cant find a death lol - im sure it was either stay a mystery or at somepoint i will find the answer

Hi could anyone help solve a puzzle for me

im looking for the marriage of Robert Payne (east grinstead)

to Tamar (either as bridgland or Mitchell)

i have thier first childs birth certificate
1859 - father robert payne mother Tamar payne formerly Mitchell
and thier last child Emily payne (my G grandmother)
b 1875 - Father Robert payne, mothyer Tamar payne formerly Bridgland

im a little baffled - im definate on the Tamar as she appears in all census's after 1851 as tamar payne - and on her deather registration as such.

definately east grinstead - i may have the date range slightly off - but in 1850 she would have been about 20

thanks for any help

there are two options really about t-shirts

cheap option which would need little organisation centrally - would be to design a transer logo - which could be downloaded and then printed onto -shirt transfer paper and people could iron them onto thier own t-shirts themselves - you can pick up the papers pretty much anywhere.

or get them done and charge people - we have done this at work, but that means someone dealing with orders etc..

just a thought

Hi
has anyone ever researched conscientious objectors in thier families, it is believed that my Grandfather was in the second world war.

he was 30 when the war broke out and was never in the armed forces - im just wondering if any information exists anywhere which may help to answer this mystery -
now its possible he was medically unfit to fight, but given his history of being a member of the co-operative movement, and attending quaker meetings - im tempted to believe this..

we have no supporting documents at all - any pointers would be gratefully recieved.

Info:
Claude Draper
Born 1908
East Grinstead

thanks

The Common Room / Re: How far back have you got?

until monday this week i was at 1845 - on my direct line and thinking about getting the siblings sorted etc.

then i found a 4th cousin, who lives in east grinstead, and has been researching the family tree for a while, so now have info going back to 1711 -
im really pleased, but a tiny bit of me wanted to dig about  :)
so now will compare notes with him, and start on my payne line aswell and see where that goes.

good luck
