Oh - I thought you meant the workshop directly behind the restaurant.

Mike - I concur with Diddy - but not in the biblical sense!

See Mike - you're not always right! tut tut!
Diddy - I am sure the trains came in on Station Street side of brook, so would not have gone behind Chinese. But no doubt, I'll be proved wrong, again!
Susan - tough luck - now (if you had them), you could probably sell them to a train enthusiast for more than their original value!
Goodnight all

John

Thanks for that Mike, but less of the 'tuts' - remember I'm the new boy!  ::)
Had a look at site and very helpful and have taken a copy of the picture - pretty much as I remember it except for road in front and the vehicles weren't quite so old!
I remember the model shop - also sold furniture and now is 'The Great Wall' Chinese restaurant.

Afraid I was there late 50's, left in 63. In the days of corporal punishment - can remember the gathering outside Pop Preston's office after assembly, for the cane! Needless to say, I never waited there! But did get the slipper (well, plimsoll) once.
Don't know what they'll do with the building now - would be a shame to see it demolished! Drove past the other day and all the memories (good & bad) came flooding back. Must be an age thing!

Thanks Diddy - not managed to get in to library as have been working! (I know - me working!)
Brie - yes it was Pop Preston. My mother socialised with him in later years, but purely as acquaintance! Vera Savage was my favourite - treated all as little adults. Have many memories of my times there, maybe you can join Didddy & me when we finally get to go for lunch one day! and we can reminisce. What year were you at Rosebery?

Does anyone have any old photos of the station buildings on Derby Road? This is for nostalgia only, as I can remember the goods wagons still using the site when I was at Rosebery school. (Goods line didn't close till 1963)

Leicestershire / Re: Medbourne Cum Holt Lookup Please

Sorry can't help you, but interested in any research you may have, as my ancestors were Blackwells from Medbourne. Earliest I have is William Blackwell b. 1767 approx and died 1850. Married Hannah b. 1769 and died 1836. Son John Blackwell born 1795. So possible that William was offspring or, less likely, sibling of Mary.
Any information you have would be appreciated.

How long have you been tied up for? Must be painful!!
Sorry, Friday not good day for me (Gym in morning, snooker in afternoon, then meet daughter)- ideally, has to be Monday to Thursday lunchtime, of which, all are fairly OK so far next week.
Not heard from Mike, perhaps he only comes out at night! (Judging by his posting times!) Sorry Mike.
Let me know, no rush.
