Hello Harry
I just 'googled' Reading cemetery and it looks like its the Cemetery Junction graveyard, London road as you thought. If you give it a try the first web-site has some photos of some of the gravestones in there.....
Good luck, Lynn.

Hi Vicki!
Thanks for that! I feel such a dork....um, how do you send personal messages?!
I have read yours to me and will get back to you via your e-mail address as a lot of the names your have connections with are also connected to my tree-particularly Butler(my maiden name), Kirton, Woodley.
Thanks again!
Lynn  :)

Berkshire / Re: Kirtons Tilehurst New thread Leggy and Ettie

Hi there!
Good idea to keep Kirtons seperate-so very many of them! As you probably saw in my message to Ettie, my(paternal) g grandmother was Sarah Kirton, daughter of John and his 3rd wife Mary. I have 2 contacts who are tracing the Kirton line extensively and keep me up to date but sometimes its hard to get it into context without losing track of my direct line-(if you know what I mean!) What is your connection to the Kirton/Kerton/Kurton/Curtains?!!

Lynn.

Hi Len!
Wouldnt it be a great connection!! My Green was Albert who married my G Aunt Annie Butler in 1925. Coincidentally, his father WAS  a John Green. I havent traced his family back as I'm concentrating more on the direct line but now I'm thinking it might be worth delving into his past.....The Hissey connection comes from My GG Aunt Ann Butler who married a Richard Hissey in 1840. Thanks to a fellow researcher I have the Hisseys back to 1500's. When was your John transported?
Regards, Lynn.

Hi Ettie
From the names you mentioned I think we have a connection here. My GG Grandfather was John Kirton born c1818. His 1st wife was Martha Gregory b.1817 and they had 3 children before Martha died in 1850. One was Henry b.1847 who married Harriet. From census returns I have the following children-John b.1866 Tilehurst Berks, Louisa b.1875 Binfield Berks, Albert b.1878 Redstone Yorks, Frederick b.1880 Harton Yorks, Alan b. 1885 Binfield Berks. My G Grandmother Sarah was the daughter of John and his 3rd wife, Mary Woodley. I'm in touch with other Kirton descendants who have managed to trace the family back to the 1500's which is pretty amazing!
It would be interesting to compare notes-
Best wishes, Lynn (Leggy)
