Durham Completed Look up Requests / Re: M Inscriptions for St Thomas, Stanley, Crook,

I recognise this guy. I found him in the Durham Mining Museum casualty list. He is a nephew of my gt gt grandfather. I wonder what happened to all the other Stothards. There were loads of them in Crook + Roddymoor.

Many thanks for taking the time to check them out for me.

Best wishes

Chris

Hi Adam,
I am now looking for Stothard in the Stanley MIs. Could you let me know what you have?

Best wishes
Chris

Thanks for sorting that out. I had not realised that a grave could carry an inscription for someone buried elsewhere [at least, not without stating that fact]. I am still curious about why there were 2 separate graves - but I guess I won't unravel that.
Thanks again for the reearch.
Best wishes
Chris

Dear Adam,
I have a query on your message #130 re Walton MIs in Crook. You have 2 entries for Ellen Walton, but I think these are the same person.
You have a single grave for Ellen 1824-1894 of Temperance Terrace. This is definitely my gt gt grandmother and I have her death cert for the correct date 19 March 1894.
You also have a double grave for her + her husband, William. I was surprised to see him buried here as they were living in Esh when he died in 1872. Ellen is also shown as buried here with the same death date but 10 years earlier - 19 March 1884. I wondered if there had been a mis-transcription or whether I have a real mystery to solve!
Could you please check your notes for me?
Many thanks.
Chris

Many thanks again. I found my great grandparents in your Coates response.
I will take your advice and go through all the responses under this heading - and under your mailing for the Stanley MIs - which I notice includes some Stothards.

Many thanks for this. This is my gt grandmother's twin brother's family.

I have just joined RootsChat and very interested in several families in Crook. Could you send me MIs for Coates?

I am also interested in Stothard, Hartley, Scales and Cook if possible.

Many thanks
Chris
