Berkshire / Parents of John Thomas Matingley born 1809
« on: Tuesday 26 January 10 01:12 GMT (UK)  »
This could be the bapt of John Thomas Mattingley;

St.Mary, Reading, Berks 18-10-1809 son of John Mattingley & Elizabeth.

also

Elizabeth Anne Long baptised 25-12-1812 St.Mary, Reading, Berks dau of Robert Long & Charlotte

These are "extracted" entries from the IGI so are reasonably sure of the details as against "submitted"

entries which are not safe to assume their correctness.

Hope this helps.

Alan

I believe these details from Alan are correct...
I am trying to find details of the Parents of John Thomas...
He immigrated to australia and arrived here in 1852 with his wife and some of his children

Thanks Alan...
I am new to genealogy working with a cousin of mine who has been researching for 15 or so years

 I do have a bit of wrong info I believe, which sent me on a wild goose chase, as far as I know he was born in 1809, I am not sure where, he died here in Australia in 1876..
The information I had  that I think is wrong is that his Father was John Thomas Mattingley also, born in 1788,whose father was James Mattingley and his mother was Sarah Pope..but information I have found  is that their son John died  in 1798 when he was just 10 years old..????
John Thomas Mattingley Born 1809 is elusive ...my cousin has not been able to locate his parents.

Hi Suzanne, I also live in Melbourne and have much info on the Mattingley family and all the branches from the early arrivals in Melb.  Also as you can see from past post I have the Oxfordshire link and like yourself further back to 1693. Did you also know there's a Mattingley Lane in North Melb? At the east end of Errol Street there's a Jewelry Shop which is where the very first school was before the big more important State school where the Mattingley's were either teachers or the head master. I have most of the education records too. Please email if you need any detail on your line or wish to share. The Mattingley family I have followed is the Thomas James Gairns Mattingley (he went to Qld) Are you from the Wandin, Victoria branch? Hope to hear from you soon. Nigel
