Canada / Re: Marriage Margaret Rutherford Anderson to John Walter Young 1911-1919

Hi,

FindMyPast have a service record for John JEANES (aka Walter John JEANES), age 18, born Ashcott, Somerset.  It shows his family and his wife Mary TUCKER.  Discharged 31 Mar 1913. So it looks like he went straight to Canada.

There is a record of John JEANES attestation papers in Canada,  11 Nov 1914

DOB: 11 Aug 1884, Ashcott, Somerset. He says he is not married and his next of kin is Mrs C JEANES.  This is odd as he would be married to Margaret by then.

https://canadiangreatwarproject.com/person.php?pid=1038928

on page 7 here there is his discharge,

https://central.bac-lac.gc.ca/.item/?op=pdf&app=CEF&id=B4801-S053

07 Apr 1915    S.O.S.  "Undesirable"

I wonder if this is why he changed his name, so that he could sign up again on 27 Sep 1915 as John YOUNG.

Regards,
Daisy

I'm still confused, the table shows John HAKESLEY is in Co. Fa not G maybe it's because it is ashes?

I wonder if there could be any information available here?

This info. is about suicides and burials,

Hi,

This seems very odd. I found this list,

https://www.milfordhistory.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/all-saints-alphabetical-deceased-listing-apr-2013-1.pdf

Which shows,

Ref No       Name               DOD          Age   Burial Date   Ashes   Burial Year   Are   Co   Row Zone  GraveI
1770    John Hakesley    13/01/2012    79                   07/02/2012      2012          3     Fa      25        3Fa25a2

but,

Ref No       Name                        DOD          Age   Burial Date   Ashes   Burial Year       Are   Co   Row Zone  GraveI
1842 Scott Barchard Wilson  *  24/01/1923    58                                     1923                  3      G      25          3G25a

Ref No          Name                        DOD          Age   Burial Date   Ashes   Burial Year   Are   Co   Row Zone  GraveI
1841   Elizabeth Mary Reeves    18/05/2004     0                                          2004            3      G      25          3G25a

The references are very similar but I'm not sure if John HAKESLEY is in the same column?

This article says "Scott Barchard Wilson is buried in an unmarked grave at All Saints' Church Graveyard in Milford on the Sea. The burial site is situated between the grave of Reeves to the right and the grave of Wilcox to the left, and is so old it is buried beneath the surface"  I've no idea what that means.

I wonder if James HAKESLEY's reference means he had his ashes placed on or near Scott WILSON's grave?

I can't find a map of the churchyard so I think it would be worth contacting the church again to see if they can explain this.

Daisy

Could this be Sarah (GLOAG) and George TRACEY living in Surrey, England in 1901?

HI,

I think I've found her going to India. This page says Missses E.E THOMPSON and C. LANCASTER for Agra and Miss W.B.J. WILKINSON for Muttra left london on October 21 and arrived in November. The above entry shows that they are talking about 1892.

https://www.rootschat.com/links/01tqd/

FindMyPast and Ancestry have images of the passenger list,

Departure Date:  20 Oct 1892
Ship:    Peninsular
Destination Port:    Bombay, India

Miss THOMPSON
Missionary
Age:  28

Miss WILKINSON
Missionary
Age:  30

Miss Lancaster
Missionary
Age:  26

Arrival in India,

https://search.fibis.org/bin/aps_detail.php?id=1783736

If it is her then it looks like she was fibbing about her age she should be about 32.
