Dublin / Re: Robert Johnson 1789
« on: Friday 04 June 10 15:54 BST (UK)  »
I do not know what religion Robert johnson was, only that his descendents were mostly Church of England or Methodist, and I have no idea what part of Dublin he came from, I only found this out through the census records that stated where he was born, but many thanks for the information.

Dublin / Robert Johnson 1789

Hi, Please can anyone help? I am looking for my Great Great Great Grandfather, his name is Robert Johnson and I believe he was born on or around 1789 in Dublin Ireland, by the time he married Isabella Ward in 1809, he was living in Birmingham and working as a Gun Finisher. I know that by 1851 he was living in Pritchett Street Birmingham. I would love to know exactly where he was born, I have hit a brick wall and unable to find anything else

Graveyards and Gravestones / Re: deaths of children

Hi All,
About the deaths of children, my Mother lost a baby in the late 1930's, he was premature, but lived for 3 days,my poor Mother never had the chance to bury him because the hospital put him in the incinerator, without permission or even notifying my parents until after the event when they asked where he was, this was in Birmingham, so I do not know if this was common practice elsewhere, obviously this could never happen now, and I checked and yes his birth and death were registered

I found that Otto Leopold on the IGI but its for the date 1841 not 1876, although it is possible that he is the father of the Otto Friedrich Leopold Dunger, who is my grandfather, that I am after. Many many thanks

The Common Room / Re: How long are GRO certs taking?
« on: Tuesday 20 April 10 13:08 BST (UK)  »
I have found that they are taking on average about a week longer than they used to, however fill in the complain form, they usually do get back to you eventually, but be aware they are not infallable, they sent me two certificates identical, only they were supposedly on different pages, they phoned to say it was my mistake, but on relooking they realised it was their mistake, they did rectify it, but if I had not argued the point I would have been led to believe that I was in the wrong. Also have you noticed the price increase? I thought at over 30 per cent extra it was a bit much.Oh and now instead of 10 days to reply to your complaint, they now take 12 days
