Forester,

Thanks for your help. I have tried on a certain web site to get his service record, but no luck. I couldn't find his service pension record either, but that could be down to me not looking in the right place... ???

I have asked a member of my family, and found out he was discharged in July 1919, and think this was at Woolwich dockyard.

I might have to go to Kew to see his SWB listing, but don't want to go all that way, and it says nothing different from his M.I.C.
I might try the local library to see if there is a absent voters list,  for 1918 and if he is in it.

Thanks for you help.

Dale.

Hi all,
I am trying to figure out what company my Grandad served with in WW1. I have his medal index card and on that it says he was a driver in the Army Service Corps and what looks like Ind Cont ?
Below is what I know.

T/34681 ARTHUR ERNEST BROWN
MEDALS:
 VICTORY: RASC/101 B(?)14915131
 BRITISH:   DITTO
 14 STAR : C484 RASC/42  1
 CLASP AND ROSE: 1VB/497/29438
 SWB LIST: RASC/4478

DATE OF ENTRY 22.9.14

I think he served in Flanders/France before being posted to Salonika. He was a mule/horse ambulance driver, but do not know who he was attached to, so have become stuck as to his other movements or that of the field hospital/dressing station he may have been with.

If anyone can help me look-ups via the medal rolls or has any other information as a way to go forward from here, it would be much appreciated.

Thank you,

Dale.

Trish not been on for a while ? Probably got fed up with you 2 hijacking her thread............... ::)

Moderator comment: let's just wait patiently for Trish, shall we?  Perhaps she has had other things going on which have prevented her presence here.  Let's let her answer in her own time.

Marcie,

if I remember rightly, as a kid, you are right. The laundry used to be on the left just before you went down the hill.

Trish,

what date are we looking at for the photos ? My dad grew up in Pine Road, so, if you can let me know a rough date, he might be able to help.

cheers,
        Dale.
