Hello Pete,

Thank you very much for replying to my post.

I have recently been in touch with my dad's cousin Audrey and she has very kindly given me a copy of the Galt family tree that I believe your dad and sister compiled.  The research they generously shared has enabled me to fill in a lot of the gaps I had in my tree. I still have one question that remains unanswered though and I wonder if you can help.  Auntie Winnie once showed me a photograph of her mother Annie outside a large manor house where she was working in service. It's many years ago and I can't remember the name of the house or where it was.  Have you have come across the photo or the name of the house in your research?

Hope to hear from you soon.

Regards,

Val C.

Hello Jim

Had a quick look at the site you found and it looks very helpful.  Thanks for that Jim much appreciated.

If I can help in any way with your Lancashire interest I would be happy to return the favour.

Hi Jim,

Will try birth certs as you suggest.  Thanks for that.  Family tell me that Julius was born in Gibralter.  Could you suggest how I would go about tracing and obtaining a birth cert from abroad.

Regards Val.

Could some kind person look up the marriage of my g grandparents, Julius Czar Galt and Annie Mary Winskill.  They were married in Wellesbourne Parish Church on April 24th 1897.
I would like to know the names of both sets of parents and the names of any witnesses.

Thank you

Val C

Hi Groucho

19Century Coroners reports rarely survive.  However there is a full report in The Preston Guardian.  Headline reads "Disastrous Steam Boat Explosion on the Ribble"  "Five lives lost and many injured"

The Steamer named "Victoria" ran aground and the boiler exploded.
The explosion took place on Sunday 23rd and William died the next day.

Verdict was manslaughter.

If you do send for the certificate I would love to know what it says so I can tie up loose ends on my family tree.

HI Groucho,

William McVey was buried on July 27th 1854 at St Ignatius's Church, Preston.  Interestingly, the death certificate was issued by the Coroner.

LRO Ref: St Ignatius B. R. RCPG/10. Microfilm 9/200. Burial No 4190.

Groucho,

Larger reference libraries usually hold copies, alternatively,  The Family History Centre at your nearest LDS Church.
