Have you tried Ancestry and Find my Past? They have excellent information especially as you have his service number and regiment details. Worth a try.

Much appreciate your help.

Lanarkshire / Re: "Glencairn", Rutherglen, was this a Care Home?
« on: Wednesday 10 June 20 20:21 BST (UK)  »
I remember in the late 1960's my father taking his aunt to the Salvation Army Home in Rutherglen. She was impressed with the house but on leaving, saying to my father " you need not think I am going to live there"
Not really relevant to this discussion but just a funny story. The house was lovely, well equipped and good staff.

Australia / Death Record for Donald MacGregor Urquhart
« on: Tuesday 28 January 20 17:07 GMT (UK)  »
Looking for information/ death record for Donald MacGregor Urquhart. He was born in Scotland, in 1940, but died in Perth, Western Australia, in 1980.
Compiling a family tree for a friend and this information would complete a section of the tree.
Hoping someone can help which would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

I think this may be what you are seeking. Taken from websites.

The 1st Lanarkshire Rifle Volunteers was a Scottish Volunteer unit of the British Army. Originally raised in Glasgow from 1859, it later became a battalion of the Cameronians. During World War I it served on the Western Front and in Ireland. Converted into an anti-aircraft regiment just before World War II, it served during The Blitz and in the campaign in North West Europe, and continued in air defence role in the postwar years until 1955.
Another.

Under the 'Localisation of Forces' scheme introduced in 1872 by the Cardwell reforms, the 1st Lanarkshire RVC was grouped with the 26th (Cameronian) Regiment of Foot, the 74th (Highland) Regiment of Foot, the 1st Royal Lanark Militia and a number of other Lanarkshire RVCs in Brigade …
