The Common Room / Re: Subject should mean SUBJECT
« on: Saturday 04 November 06 20:41 GMT (UK)  »
I really did not expect my posting to generate so many replies!
Clearly, we searchers after family history, are all very different in our approaches to this absorbing and time hungry pursuit. Unfortunately some of us may have less time than others to spend on the RootsChat message boards.
I am relieved to know that I am not the only one who prefers a direct, specific approach from the subject line entered onto the Boards.
Would that I had time enough to peruse all the unspecified and "vague" queries  I have followed, thinking that I could perhaps help, only to find them way outside my own area of interest or knowledge.
Good Luck to anyone using the site  and Many Thanks to those who have responded to my own requests for help and information.

Belated thanks to skb and CaroleW for responding to my query. I had hoped to be able to report further  success  -   but will just have to go on imagining where and how the accident happened... Your suggestions were much appreciated though.

This is a plea to posters on all Boards to indicate as clearly as possible in the Subject Line what they are looking for.
Subject Titles like "Why can't I find auntie Lil? "or "Looking for Birth Certificate" and even worse " Frustrated" do not encourage me to look to see if I might be able to help. Please give, at the very least, a surname, date and place in your subject line.

Lancashire Completed Lookup Requests / Re: 1841 Census Lookup please - Howarth
« on: Sunday 23 July 06 19:17 BST (UK)  »
Not really too sure what you are asking but by the 1851 Census there are two more children - after a long gap following birth of Charles in 1839 - Elizabeth was born in 1847 and Thomas in 1849.
Does this help?

Lancashire Lookup Requests / William Henry Brierley, Died Salford Nov. 1892
« on: Sunday 23 July 06 17:55 BST (UK)  »
By mistake I posted this message yesterday on the Lancs. Lookup Offers Board.
William Henry Brierley of 4 West Street, Broughton, fell from a ladder on 13th November 1892 and died, from the injuries he sustained, in Salford Royal Hospital on 27th November 1892. He was then 40 years old and was working as a house painter. An Inquest was held on November29th and the Certificate issued by John Frederick Price, Deputy Coroner  for Salford County Borough, recorded Accidental Death.
Can anyone please help me to trace a Coroners' or Newspaper Report concerning the accident?

William was my great grandfather.
Thank you.
