Hi Frank.  So your Richard Greenop was married to Sarah Eleanor Backhouse? If so, I have a photo of him and his 3 eldest children.  Also, a photo of Sarah and children after she became a widow (probably on the day of Richard's funeral). I also have an "In Memoruim" card from his funeral.  I'm happy to supply scanned copies to you.

I find this site quite difficult to understand, so you could email me directly at 'rowland5[at]bigpond[dot]net[dot]au. Hope you can see this address.

Mark

The information is from the free transcript given by the Church of Latter Day Saints which is the public domain. I have not looked at the image, don't know where to find freeBMD and yes I know for sure they were married  ;)

Hi Carol,
Is your William Rowland born 1871 in Marsworth the son of John and Eliza Rowland of Marsworth? If so, this provides me with some detail of John and Eliza's son William and his family.  Thanks, Mark.

Hi - could you please look up for a marriage between John Hornby (b. 1867) and Mary Jane Bainbridge (b. 1869).
John was the son of Simon Bryham Hornby.  Mary Jane was the daughter of Joseph Bainbridge. Also, exact birthdates for each would be helpful.  Thanks.

Hi Bullamore.

I'm a relative of Sarah Greenop born 23 March 1850 in Langdale, Westmoreland.  She was the daughter of John Greenop and his wife Mary (nee Kirkby).  I tried to attach a photo of Sarah but this bulletin board refused to do it. I'm descended from Sarah's older sister, Margaret Greenop.

Bob

I have Greenops in my family tree. Specifically John born 1818 in Langdale who was a labourer at the gunpowder works. He was married to Mary Kirkby who was something like me GGG aunt i think! They had 12 children.
Do you need to know anything in particular?
Corinne
Hi Corinne - I have Greenops in my family too; the same Greenops = John Greenop and Mary Kirkby (m. 27-May-1843 at Grasmere).

John died in the Elterwater Powder Works explosion. They had 10 children:
William, Margaret, Sarah, Agnes, John, Henry, Robert, Edward, Jonathan & Richard.

I'm descended from Margaret Greenop. She married Joseph Bainbridge. They had two children = Mary Jane and John.  I'm descended from Mary Jane, who married John Hornby. They emigrated to Tasmania with their two girls Grace and Margaret (my grandmother).

Attached is a photo of Margaret Bainbridge (nee Greenop).

I'm keen to get more details of this Greenop line.  Which one are you descended from?
