Many thanks for your message , I have been looking at the sites you suggested and found some VERY interesting info about my husbands Grandmother ! We only have one photo of her which has her with my F in law and who we thought was Grandfather, now it seems she married again in 1924, whether a widow the record doesn't say but not what we expected.  Actually Gladys Tarleton seems to be Gt Grandfather George Weldon Tarletons 2nd wife NOT  William Henrys, he was married to Mary Conroy, but all very interesting anyway.
I haven't managed to find the lists of evacuees and internees though, any suggestions as to how I might get that up on the 2nd site, I can't seem to find what I'm looking for  :(

Now I'm going back to Familysearch and see what else might turn up.  I wish deaths would show up and then I might even have more.

Oh well , I could go on about the OTHER one, this is hubby's Maternal Grandmother, and even with help from loads of others including Family Tree Magazine, no one has ever been able to 'FIND' her or her family. I think there must have been a few tall stories when she married his Grandfather in 1912, even her 2nd marriage in 1919 ( after being widowed in 1917 ) didn't give any clues. We even know where she's buried but not were she was born or who her parents were, none of the names match to anybody ??? so she was either from another planet OR not telling the truth . ??? died too early (1953) for birthplace to be on death cert sadly. Nor any sign in 1911 Census, >:( So I shall just be quite happy with MY side and the Tarletons  ;D

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to say a BIG thankyou to all who helped me on my search for the Tarleton Family. I am now in contact with the Grandson of my husbands Gt Uncle, and he has given me ALL the tree back to Gilbert c 1580. Also the Will of George Matcham T, and a very interesting letter between Gt Uncle and Gt Grandfather written in 1905. It gives much more insight into the family and how their lives panned out. I'm still reeling from everything I discovered in The Times about so many of them, without all your help I'd still be at a brickwall.   ;D

I'd rather have cake than an Indian takeaway  :) my hubby can have that. Parts of both sides of his family prove very difficult, after 6years I've never found where his maternal Grandmother was from, even though she's buried 10 minutes away from us. Can't find her ANYWHERE, even with help,  perhaps she may show up on the 1901 Ireland Census ?? that would be a turn up for the books, I'll look forward to that one now.

Well, no I hadn't , as all the Tarletons I have were either in India or Burma from 1845 upwards , apart from the ones recently found coming and going from Rangoon in the early 1900s, and as I'm not sure who our George M Tarleton was descended from yet, I haven't looked further this way in Ireland. Even GM, seems to have been in England from at least 1819 when he married, and ended his days in Devon in 1880. They're a fascinating family , that's for sure.
Thanks for the link, needs more looking at but I did spot a WELDON on there, so related somewhere along the line.

You are NOT kidding  ;D

Haven't been able to get onto the site for the newspapers yet, so will have to be patient until the card and pin come now. I did have a look at what The Kings Police Medal was given for, as another brother of gt  grandfather George Weldon T,was in England to receive it in Nov 1911 , I'm really close to some things it's very tantalising, I don't have FindMyPast to find outgoing passenger lists only incoming on Ancestry, but they seem to flit across from Rangoon quite often ?
The mother of George Ws wife had the lovely name of Mah Nim Yah, so she was obviously Burmese I'd think, such a lot I can't find sadly, but the Tarletons are fascinating ! And the birth places of my hubby's Uncles ! you would have to have a couple of bottles of wine to pronounce some of them , wonderful.

Hi Eileen ,
Yes I have joined and was given a number to search until the pin comes through but it didn't accept it this evening. I just HAVE to now after you giving me those snippets, I can't wait to see things . The Weldon name is too frequent  NOT to be connected to my husbands family. I'll stock the freezer and be ready for the next exciting bits.

I will be a happy hunter !!

Thankyou for that info, it would be interesting to see if Robert ( the last on the list ) may be our George Ms brother ? if only I could find the parents. I read the other day that ALL the Tarleton  family in Killeigh are descended from a Digby Tarleton, so I think I'm on the right track.

I shall keep this for future reference.
