Occupation Interests / Brick makers

I am researching brick makers in Fletton, Huntingdonshire and wondered how the grades worked ie: labourers, brick burners etc. Would there be any career progression? or were all elements the same?

thankyou

Hi

Family stories say that an ancestor of mine 'Robinett' may have been interred at the camp. I personally think that they perhaps traded with the inmates. I would be grateful if you have any information at all.

The Common Room / Occupation

I have listed on the 1861 census a 17 year old unmarried girl. She is recorded as being head of household and with he ris a lodger and the lodger's child. However in the occupation title it states 'unfortunate'. Is this a referral to her situation by the enumerator or a genuine occupation?

World War One / Re: Conscientious objector

He was initially seen in front of the Peterborough notables and this was reported in the paper but what his sentence was (hard labour in Wormwood Scrubs) was not passed by them so this must have been a military sentence. In his records it says this was passed in Northampton. He was again tried and sentenced a couple of years later in Winchester to the same (hard labour in Wormwood Scrubs). He objected under Fellowship of Reconciliation grounds and this was quite rare as only 15 individuals received a sentence.

World War One / Conscientious objector

Hi

An individual I am researching Ernest Colman from Peterborough was a conscientious objector. In the local paper it is reported that he was handed over to the military authorities. I have his war records but where might the trial details be?

Huntingdonshire / Re: Westborne House, Colman, Fletton

Westhorne House (not Westborne as I previously stated) stand son the corner of London Rd and Elm Street.

It was definitely occupied from 1881 to 1963. It is currently derelict.

Thankyou for your interest.
