Hi Dennis,

You could get in touch with someone at Cork City Library; I have done this in the past and always found them willing to help.

Hi Alan,

This must be very exciting for you and I wish you luck with your search. University College Dublin Press: ucdpress[at]ucd.ie have published John Sarsfield Casey's memoirs in a book called The Galtee Boy; you might also be interested to know that Mary Casey, the Grandaughter of John Sarsfield Casey, helped with the editing. I think you should contact the university because they might be able to put you in touch with her. Please let us know how you get on.

I didn't think this magazine was available to view in-line however, you could contact John Dolan at the Evening Echo in Cork. John is the Editor of the Holly Bough and may be able to help you with your enquiry

I am sure that if you contact the Cork City library they will be able to help you with your search. This has worked for me in the past.

Cork Resources & Offers / Re: Cork Ancestral Project records going online

Margaret Jordan has led a courageous campaign and I for one am disappointed that after all these years, the general public are now expected to pay for records which should be made free.

There is an online debate going on about this very sensitive subject and which is receiving much attention in Cork, and around the world. Please go to http://mjordan.wordpress.com

Cork / Re: Royal Artillery Spike Island. Any records available?
« on: Tuesday 22 May 12 21:31 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

My Grandfather was stationed on Spike Island during WW1 and we got his military records from the Ministry Of Defence,  but I seem to recall hearing that these records are now at The National Archives.

Cork / Re: Calling all Cork Barrys
« on: Thursday 10 May 12 11:31 BST (UK)  »
This link could run,and run, so I don't expect anyone will mind if I 'jump on the bandwagon' too. I cannot get anywhere with my 'one and only' link to the 'Barry's and I hope that someone reading this will be able to help. My Grandparents, Mary Angela Barnes, and Edward Maurice O'Neill, were married at St. Mary's Parish Church,  Passage West, Cork, in 1915. Mary's parents were named as: James Barnes, and Margaret Barry. The only other details I have about my Great Grandparents is what I saw written down in the marriage register, at St. Mary's. James stated that he was a blacksmith, and gave their address as 'Cork'. I take that as Cork City?
I have no idea if James and Margaret were married; I have been unable to find a marriage record, and also, I cannot find a birth certificate for Mary Angela Barnes, my Grandmother. I cannot find this family on the 1901, or the 1911 census of Ireland either. They are a complete mystery.

Can anyone help with my enquiry please?
