Hi BG

Thanks for that...George or THomas  is a mystery.... also the birth of Enoch .....................Enoch's Marriage Cert  only gives his Father as George ..

Also the Census information for the Birth of George or Thomas is different..... 1841 it says Nottinghamshie
1851.. Greasley  and 1861 Derbyshire Newthorpe..

Ive yet to find a death for Either Sarah or George (THomas)  Im suspecting between 1861 and 1871 for both..

Thanks again for the help much appreciated

Hi Scully

A cousin seems to think the Father of Elizabeth is John Young HENDRIE.... but we have no proof.. as the Deat Rego  just states ????Hendrie..

1841 CENSUS  I find a Mary HENDRY  living around the corner from Elizabeth and Husband Forrester.. this Mary is age 70   Elizabeth on this census is age 25 same age as hubby...later census  and death rego suggest she is born  1816.... Husband was born in 1912..  If Elizabeth is a younger child  then perhaps  Mary HENDRY  is her MOther......

I'm not even sure the name FLEMMING on the death rego is correct  as who ever was the informant  gave ??? for Christian names of Both..

cheers

Sorry for the confusion

Matthew MUIR son of Robert MUIR and Mary FAIRSERVICE  born 1735   according to the  IGI  died in 1760

I checked the Burial Record for the Matthew who died in 1760 it only has a Father mentioned and it is Robert.... but the age is wrong... this Fellow who died in 1760 was only 20 ........ Matthew who is the son of Robert and Mary  would have been 25 .... not to say the record is not incorrect...

Matthew who married Janet in 1778  .............no age on marriage record... just of full age... so not sure when he was born............it is possible he is the son of a Matthew  (given the names ofthe children)...there is one born in  1757 with only a Father registered as Matthew... but is this Matthew who fathered the child in 1757 the son of Robert and Mary  or is Matthew who married Janet in 1778 the son of Robert and Mary...  That is the big question

I personally think that Matthew who married Janet CAMPBELL in 1778 is the Grandson of Robert and Mary..... not the son..... and more than likely the Child born to a Matthew in 1757..(only birth likely on Scotlands People) but because I cant find a death..to know how old or who his parents are I can' t claim any link to the Family of Robert MUIR and Mary FAIRSERVICE

The burial record for the Matthew MUIR in Mauchline in 1802 does not give any information except that he resided in Mauchline.and I cant find any MI for this burial

Hope it cleared it up a bit

Thanks for the Reply
I am in Australia... so a little hard to do research in Scotland..

The naming Pattern if used would suggest  Matthew's Parents were Matthew and Janet...and Janet's Parents James and Jean

I have found a birth for a Janet CAMPBELL in Loudoun with Parents James CAMPBELL and Jean YOUNG  in 1760 this would fit...but no proof...

Matthew on the other hand  Stories passed down to a cousin is said she is decended from a long line of Matthews back to Robert MUIR and Mary FAIRSERVICE................this is correct in her line  but we can prove only back to Matthew and Janet CAMPBELL

If this Matthew (Janet CAMPBELL) his parents are Robert and Mary  he would have been born in 1735....not impossible as it could be a second marrige forhim in 1778.....  The IGI has the Death of thie Matthew b. 1735 to Robert and Mary  in 1760...age 25... now he could have married and fathered a son before he died..

Checking the burial index the Matthew buried in 1760 only has a Father mentioned ..Robert and the age of this Matthew is 20..so leaves some doubt that it is the Son of Robert and Mary FAIRSERVICE...who would have been 25...............so it is possible that  Robert and Mary's son survived and didnt marry till 1778 or it could be a 2nd marriage as I said...

Matthew and Janet only   had 5 children  Jean, Matthew, Janet ,Agnes and James which is unusual for my MUIRS  most had about 12... which leads you think Matthew could be older  or he died young....

This is why I would like to find out more about the chap who died in 1802... I feel he is our Matthew.... and if Janet was only 42 when he died  she most likely married again...

Cheers

Antrim / GILLESPIE of Ballymena
« on: Sunday 03 January 10 23:45 GMT (UK)  »
Looking for the Births of Rose and Esther GILLESPIE of Ballymena

Parents are Robert GILLESPIE and Elizabeth KENNY

Rose and Esther were in Australia by 1865 when Rose married  Alexander GREER  also from Antrim..   Esther married Hugh KELLY from Armagh in Brisbane in 1867

I cant find their entry into Australia..

A newspaper article on the Wedding of Esther and Hugh in 1867 suggests  Robert GILLESPIE was still alive in Ballymena..no mention of the Mother...

From their death certificates it would seem Rose was born about 1840 and  Esther 1845.

I have plenty of information from the Weddings to this day  but nothing from Ireland..

Any suggestions

« on: Sunday 03 January 10 23:36 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone tell me how I would find more information on the Matthew MUIR  burried 7th April 1802 in Mauchline...... I believe he could be my GGGGrandfather  who  married Janet CAMPBELL in 1778 in Mauchline .... Marriage record  says Matthew from Mauchline Janet from Loudoun...

Matthew and Janet  are my Brick Walls...  I can prove everthing from them till now... but we stop with the marriage in 1778   NO parents mentioned on the registration...

I cant find  a death for either..... this one in 1802 would seem tofit... but I cant find a MI in the Grave yard

any suggestions
