Fife / Robert Hunter Smith - Birth parents?
« on: Friday 12 February 10 16:23 GMT (UK)  »
I was hoping that someone is able to help with my query.
The above was my Grandfather, i obtained his birth certifcate which confirmed what i knew that he was born in Kirkcaldy.  His birth date was different however from what we had celebrated. The names of his parents were John Smith and Elizabeth Smith (maiden name Hunter)  I have then obtained the marriage certifcate in 1938 when he married my Grandmother to find that the names of his parents had changed to Henry Smith and Maggie Jane Smith (maiden name Hunter).  I am aware that John Smith had a younger brother called Henry. My question is, is there anyway that i could find out for definite who was his natural birth parents?
Thanks in advance

Many thanks for this Carol, it has given me a few leads to get on with.
I think there is some 3rd Great Grandparents in there which has been really helpful. If you have time i would also welcome the remainder of the names on Thomas McLaren.
Many thanks for your time its appreciated

Fife / Smith family - Kirkcaldy
« on: Saturday 30 January 10 18:01 GMT (UK)  »
I am interested in the Smith family. My Great Grandparents John and Elizabeth Smith gave birth to my Grandfather Robert Hunter Smith born 1913/14, address High Street Kirkcaldy. My grandfather and his father are proving to be quite elusive and i was hoping to find out more information about them. I also know they had a daughter Jesse, but she died at a young age.
Any help gratefully received
Thanks

Midlothian / Fairgrieve and Moore - Newbattle information
« on: Saturday 30 January 10 17:57 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone have any information about the above. Most of the Moore and Fairgrieve family were born and remained in Newbattle/Newtongrange area. I am particularly interested in the burial sites around this area as i was hoping to find the families gravestones.
Many thanks

I am after some help on my grandfather. I understand he was a Leading Stoker in WW2 and was on the Minesweepers. I also know that he spent some time in Malta, however apart from that i know little else. Would anyone be able to help me in the right direction.
Many thanks
