Many thanks for that. I thought they would be one and the same.

As you say, the F's and the T's.

Thanks, Eric

Hi
I've been looking at the record of an Inquest for a James Hibbert, 25 Oct 1878.
It seems to say that the Inquest was held at "The Four Freddlehoyle Inn" Barnsley (Presumably Pogmoor).
When I Googled the Inn it came up with "Tom Treddlehoyle" in Pogmoor.
Are they the same places?

Regards, Eric.

There is a Joseph Meakin b 1875 in Stockport in 1901.

I can't make out his occupation fully, but it seems to be  "Coach something", I think.

Thanks again.

Now I know the location of these places the hard bit starts. Finding these people 20/30 years on and hoping they are where I want them!! Easier said than done.

Many thanks, Eric

Thanks all. I was sure Oldham Rd used to be Newton Lane. The piece on the Tibb looks familiar. That may have been where I saw it.

The area of Ancoats mentioned in the articles looks favourable. The people I'm looking at were in that general area for many years, so it looks as though I'm on the right track. I do like the mention of Poland St.

There is some 50 years between the references to Newton Lane & Gt Newton St. but I would imagine they stayed in the General area most of the time. In fact the one born in Newton Lane was at Oldham Rd when he died.

Plenty to work on now.

Many thanks, Eric.

Thanks. Not the answer I was hoping for. I was hoping/assuming Grt Newton St was in the Ancoats area. Newton Heath throws a spanner in the works.

I think I've been down this road before ( pardon the pun) and I think I found this map at the time.

I think I'll have to look at some directories next time I'm at Central Library. The address I've got in 1806 is Cropper's Buildings, Gt Newton St. Man

Thanks, Eric

Can anyone tell me where 'Great Newton Street' was in 1806 and am I correct in thinking that 'Newton Lane' in late 1700's was the now Oldham Rd?

The possibilities could be endless. One burial in that Grave at that particular time or the section of the Burial Ground?

The main thing is that I've established that it denotes the Grave and I know who purchased the Grave, which has helped me, possibly, to move on with this particular family.

Thanks, Eric

Thanks. I've found a few more burials, presumably for the same family and all mention the same Grave. I also found the burial when the Grave was purchased. The Grave No. is on the left, circled and a note to say who purchased the Grave. The subsequent entries are written at the end of the entry.

I thought the top number may have been the 1st , 2nd & c person in the Grave but all seem to have a 1 at the top.

Now I've solved that I need to find out if I've got the correct family.

Regards, Eric.
