World War Two / WW2 era items found
« on: Sunday 02 February 25 19:52 GMT (UK)  »
I have recently found what seems to be a WW2 German military case in my attic and I was wondering if anyone would have any advice regarding how I could find out more about it and how it may possibly have come to be in my house? There was nothing inside it when I found it, except for a drawing of a woman that is dated 1947. I am currently living in Kent. Thank you

Cork / Cork District Hospital
« on: Saturday 30 November 24 23:57 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,
Would anyone know if hospital records exist for Cork District Hospital (now St Finbarr's Hospital) from the early 1900s (1915-1921) and where they might be stored?
I have checked the Cork archives website but unfortunately their collection starts at 1923.
Thank you :)

Thank you for your replies.

It's possible that it was accommodation, as he raised his family on Military Road where the barracks was.

I'll contact the local history library and find out if this is correct. The trophies article is interesting. I wonder if that is associated with the location...

Thank you all for your help with this  :)

Yes, this is a copy of the death record.

Cork / Sebastopol Yard

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could help with a death record that I have.

I have a death record for an ancestor which is registered in Cork, but in the column "date and place of death", it reads "August 24th, 1899. Sebastopol Yard".

Would anyone know if this was a local name for somewhere in Cork and if so, where would it have been?

Thank you

Dee

Hi Hallmark,
Unfortunately I don't know her father's name as there are no parents names on their marriage record.

Hi Maiden Stone,
I have birth records for their children who were all born in Bird's Quay and the youngest in School Lane but I am interested in finding where they lived before they married and who their families were.

Hi Hallmark,
Thank you for your help. I have had a look on IrishGenealogy.ie church records and civil records but it doesn't bring anything up that could be my great great grandfather.
When I search a baptism record for my great great grandmother over a 4 year period, it brings up hundreds of records so I have no idea how to narrow it down as I don't know where she originally came from.
