Family History Beginners Board / Re: Gregory family
« on: Friday 03 September 10 13:13 BST (UK)  »
Hello Kereru, I am a great granddaughter of John and Eliza Gregory, my grandfather was Alfred and he was born at Awhitu Manukau Peninsula Auckland. There is or was a cousin called Winsome Gregory from Gisborne who was doing a family tree. The family lived down there at some stage as my mother Muriel was born there in 1922. She was the youngest of 4 daughters. I think it must have been after living at Puni, John Gregory used to play the organ at a little church called St Brides at Mauku (its still in use and has a lot of history attached to it, as maori wars were fought around it and it has tin plate over holes in the walls through which muskets were fired from) they retired to Balmoral Road Balmoral Auckland and my grandfather lived next door for a time. John and Eliza Gregory are buried at a Hillsborough Cemetery. I have quite a lot of history.

I am Norman, the NZ Champion (Ploughing) that you are referring to and we are farming and cropping at Glenbrook. Isaac George Wymer (d. 1953) and Elizabeth Russell (d.1963) were my Grandfather and Grandmother.  Isaac (b.1859) was farming on the west side of the Mt Wellington Highway at Otahuhu, Auckland cropping 100 acres of vegetables from 1890 to 1905.
