Cumberland Lookup Requests / Re: 1891 census siddick query
« on: Thursday 11 March 10 17:26 GMT (UK)  »
Thanks for all your help. I found various nos. Siddick.Does that mean there was no Wedgwood Street mentioned?
The birth cert I have is a family secret I didn't know about i.e. an illegitimate birth but wondered why it was 18 Wedgwood Street as the family weren't from Siddick as far as I know. The person who gave birth was living with her family in 1891 census so I thought maybe I might get a clue as to the unknown father if I found who was living at this address abut this time.
Thanks again
Chris

Thanks for all your help and very prompt replies! I know where this is now, thanks. I've been down there a couple of times but didn't know its name. Once again, thanks very much - this seems to be a very helpful site, glad I found it. Found a new link to a branch of my family tree the first time I logged on! You never know, I might even be able to return the favour and help someone else in the future.

Cumberland / Wreah,Low,Hensingham

Wonder if anyone can help? I found a relative in the 1871 census staying at the address listed - Wreah,Low,Hensingham. and wondered where this might be. I know Hensingham a bit as I was brought up in Cleator Moor but maybe this place no longer exists. I know that this person's parents were living in Richmond cottage Hensingham in 1861 and wondered if this was near it?
Thanks
Chris  :)

Cumberland Completed Lookups / Re: Hedleys in Cleator, Egremont, Whitehaven

Hi
Am new to the list.Just registered to see if anyone knew about a place in  Hensingham in1871 census. Imagine my surprise to see this post about the Hedleys. My grandfather was Andrew Hedley Shylan, son of Ellenor Hedley and John Shylan. I know more about the Shylan side than the Hedleys so was good to see your post. Have seen the gravestone in Cleator churchyard, it's quite big and gave me quite a bit of info. ;D
