Thanks for all the help, But I think we will have to eliminant some of those. The rest is great.

Have you a date as to when Henry Godfrey and his family travelled back to Tasmania

I don't know when she moved to Tasmania. But I think Henry Godfrey could be meet her in London in middle of 1850s. After Henry's wife's death, Henry and his children moved back to Tasmania in 1858. So Harriet might be moved after 1858 to Tasmania to join them.
to work for Henry at the Horse and Jockey Launceston, other note is when she was 14? 1852?

Have you found Harriet Wilson on any passenger lists?

No I am still trying to find where to look for this.

Where there any witnesses to Harriet's marriage?

Her witnesses were Horatio Nelson Godfrey (my great great grandfather) and his sister, Mary Louisa Godfrey so they should be Harriet's cousins. Another one was Charles Harris that is unknown to me. -Steven.

So this messes up the census data if she was gone before 1861. Maybe I will have to try and find some orphanage records are these on the census?

Hi, I have not posted for a while to try and narrow down the field.
This is more info from a Cousin.

Harriette Wilson born 1839? Middlesex. Parents Harriette Godfrey( born 1813? Brighton) and William Wilson ( conflict with death cert which had John as father). Living in Bethnal Green and he was a landscape gardner I am not sure if this came off a census or a marraige entry??
Harriette moved to Australai before 1 may 1862 when She married in Tasmania(no parents named on the marrage cert). She is the niece of Henery Godfrey who died in Jan 1862 Tasmaina. This is for certain:)

Hi, She married in 1862 Tasmania OZ. Died in NZ 1922 with father John stated but no mother. She had an uncle Henery Godfrey who had a holiday in Tasmania as a convict but returned to England and after his wife Mary Clarke died he went back to OZ with his family in 1858 and we think Harriet followed them out at some stage?

This is all new to me as we had her as a orphan until we got the contact re the uncle's will she was mentioned in!

Regards Greta
