No the link you gave me was the correct people.. but the tree you put in the post (not in link form) had wrong date of birth.

I actually started another thread, and I have found, with the help of members here, that Pascal Cyreen Gunter is Harley's father. He had two wives with a grand total of 21 children. Harley being the second youngest to the first wife, but he had 12 younger siblings. Making him number 13. I would probably run away as well *chuckles*

1900 census was found of a Harley Gunter being 5 living with a Pascal Gunter in Swain Co., NC with a birth date of April 1895. Then 1910 census of a Harley Gunter living with a young couple, wife named Rebbecca (Becky) Prince, who is identified as his sister. Time lines all match up.

Pascal moved to Idaho with the Mormons in the late 1800's sometime. Here is his grave with all his childrens names.http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=pv&GRid=24059391&PIpi=9056826

Right now I am pretty stoked that I finally figured it out who the parents of Harley were.

Ok, so there is no doubt now that Pascal Cyreen Gunter is the Father of Harley Gunter. Harley had said he ran away due to so many siblings... Well I have found out that between Pascals two marriages there is 21 Children. He has 12 younger siblings.. Which falls inline with the story.

To top it off I found out that Pasculs father was George Marion Gunter, and Morions Father was George E. Gunter.. So now I have a start. I have boxs and boxs of pictures dating back to what looks like 1870-1890's with no names. But now that I have reference names I might be able to piece some of this together.

I just want to thank guys for the help. :) Make's my day. And my Christmas for the help.

So my great grandfather Harley Gunter was born in April of 1895. married a Minnie Welch who was born in June of the same here. Sometime in the late 20's or early 30's they moved with their oldest Ancel (my grandfather) to Medford, OR.

I can trace Minnies roots rather effortlessly. Harley on the other hand seems to have appeared out of thin air. My dad says he was told he was the oldest of 13, and ran away from home. It would have been to Swain County, NC where he married Minnie, but where he came from I have no idea. I theorize that he is a son of Zebulon, but again unlikely given he lived in Idaho in the mid '90's. I was just told by my dad that he was told when he was young that Harley had a brother named David. Also my dad seems to remember being told that Harley's dad had a odd name. Hence why I am thinking Zebulon. Thats all I know... and it's driving me nuts. I have started to think that maybe he changed his name prior to SSI.

Oh btw.. the list of Welch's you gave in text isn't the same as what i found in your link. The minnie I found in your link is for sure his wife. No question, she died in Jackson in 62, 7 years before he died in jackson. Her parents where

Father: Fidelia Welch b: 28 APR 1866 in Hazel Creek, Macon County, North Carolina
Mother: Alice Jones b: 22 OCT 1871 in Hazel Creek, Swain County, North Carolina

So I did some link chasing and I see no Gunters in her line. So they aren't directly related.

I am so sorry for high jacking this thread.. I should start a new one...

Actually I followed the link to Minnie and her date of birth is exactly the same as Harley's... So it could be more then likely the same people. It says she died in 1962, so I need to find out where she died, or where her 1930 census was taken, or her SSI card was issued to make for certain.

Paul,
Thank you for all the info.. I don't really know what to do with it. I am sorta running blind right now. My grandfather passed a couple years ago, and my greatgrandfather Harley died in '69. My grandpa never met his grandpartents, or any of his aunts and uncles. All the info I have is my grandpa was born in 1920 in Proctor County, NC and moved to Medford, OR a few years shortly after. Harley was the oldest of 13, or so the story goes, and left NC because he was sick of raising his brothers and sister.  :P So anyway again thank you for the help, it may just lead to something.

You all have a great Christmas.

Cripes.. Is Minnie Gunter from Oregon? My dad and I have never been able to find out who my great grand fathers parents where. His name was Harley Gunter married to Minnie Gunter (maiden Welch). Harley was born in 1895, and died in 1969... Other then that I have no info on him. I heard from my grandfather before he died that he was one of 13 children.
