New Zealand Completed Requests / Re: Ackerman Family in NZ
« on: Saturday 19 December 09 20:57 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, Have just discovered this site!  Im Pauline, grand-daughter of Ethel (got called Vera) and Marcus (Mark) Hansen.  My Dad Geoffrey pointed out the house in Clareville where the Ackermans lived.  Dad passed away a couple of years ago and is buried in the Masterton cemetery with his Aunts Sybil and Petronella, and the grave site behind is where his grandfather rests- Henry.  Phillip is in another row there.  Be wonderful to share copies of family photos. Vera was the only one of the children who married- Dad said that one of his mothers sisters died of the dreadful flu after WW1, one of those girls was a music teacher.  I have one brother John who lives in Masterton.  I recall Dad donating some photos to a museum or similar in Masterton a few years ago- they may have been more from the Hansen side of the family?  I have a small bible given to Henry when he left to come to New Zealand- must go hunt it out.  I seem to recall Dad saying his grand-parents Henry and Susan had 2 dogs called Winky and Blinky!  My grandparents Vera and Mark died in Nelson as mentioned, Uncle Donald died some years ago, his wife and son still live in Nelson.  Aunty Joan never married (I have got my name from her middle name- Pauline)  My mother is still alive but very frail and in advanced stages of Alzhiemers.
