Europe / Re: German Translation
« on: Friday 14 June 13 00:15 BST (UK)  »
Wonderful, thank you so much. Now I have some thing to go on. I have a name - Emil Lohse, Chemnitz. He would have been my Grandmothers Uncle, I think. Bertha Kindt moved to Australia in 1901 and Ruby and Pearl were her daughters. Bertha was married to Theodor Bernhard Richter in Berlin on 20-6-1909. I don't have any more information on either side of the family.  I wonder how I find out more about Emil Lohse?

I am hoping someone can help me by translating the attached postcards, they are from relatives (i think) of my Grandmother Berta Richter (nee Kindt) who was born in Berlin in 1885. I am trying to find more information on them. Thanks in advance

Thank you so much for your offer. I am trying to find out all I can on Albert Edward MOORE RAF #1435648, he enlisted in June 1941. He was born in Townsville, Australia on 23-2-1918.
Family information says that he left Australia for England and joined the RAF as he could not get into the RAAF. He married in London in 1942 and returned and died in  Australia.
I cannot find any Australian military records for him.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Midlothian / Re: RATTRAY Robert Brydon
« on: Monday 02 January 12 11:43 GMT (UK)  »
I guess I should put my 2 cents worth into this discussion.

Robert's father was in fact Charles Rattray not William. I have been able to confirm this with Robert and Sarah's marriage details. He died 7-3-184 of Inflamation. He was married to Elizabeth Brydon b 1803 died 8-11-1874 and they had 3 children John, Robert Brydon and William B.

Robert Brydon Rattray 1838 was married to Sarah Beattie. He died 2-8-1910 of Influenza & pneumonia and they had 7 children Charles Brydone, Bary Beattie, Robert Beattie, Robert Beattie (Bryden), John (Jock) Beattie, Elizabeth (Lizzie) and Helen Muir (Nellie).

Hi, I have just noticed this thread. I have Albert Cyril Loach in my family tree, he married Violet Ellen Brassington and their child (I only know of one) was Corwyn Maxwell Loach born 1924 died 16-6-2001, I am interested in finding out more details of Corwyn's (known as Max) ancestors, if you could help that would be great.

Thanks you so much for all your help. Do you think the below are the parents and siblings of John Baldwin  & Mary Ann?

Baptisms from Family Search for some children born to John & Elizabeth Baldwin.

Joseph bapt 26 June 1803 Sarratt
Kezie bapt 15 Feb 1807 Sarratt
William bapt 15 Feb 1808 Sarratt
Elanah (sic) bapt 26 May 1811 Sarratt
Job bapt 12 Dec 1813 Sarratt
James born 20 Feb 1816 & bapt 5 Nov 1837 Bovingdon
Edwin bapt 25 March 1827 Sarratt
Emma bapt 13 Feb 1831 Latimer

It would seem Elizabeth had 2 late babies, she is living with Edwin aged 24 Cattle Dealer, his wife Mary & their son Charles in Sarratt 1851.

I am trying to get my head around all of this, so we have John 60 and Elizabeth 55 Baldwin (parents) of Ellen, John, Edwin and Emma at Mauldens.
Then son John and wife Mary with son Alfred  at Warren Farm 1851
Then John & Mary Ann, (parents) William, James and Edwin at Minings Farm 1861
Then John (father) William and Edwin at Huntsmore Farm 1871 (thanks Ray)
If this is right Mary Ann must have died between 1861 and 1871, and Maddie has found that she died Mar 1852.

From the Nash side Robert and Elizabeth are Mary's parents & her siblings are James, Elizabeth, William and Ann Healey. Son James married Sarah. Elizabeth Nash died 21-1-1857. (thanks Maddie)

It seem to appear that there was only one wife for John Baldwin - Mary Ann Nash.
I wonder what happened to Alfred he does not appear on the 1861 census & he would have been 9 years old.

That is a whole lot more information than I had and proof which makes it great.
