Hi Andrew

I am afraid I don't know anything about a William Batty.

I do know a Whitehead was married to a Crawshaw somewhere along my line.

Sorry I can't help you.

I've just found some more info.  I was told that maybe the 4 Caulfield brothers Hugo, Owen, John and Joseph came from the north, County Tyrone and settled in Mayo. They were weavers.  They were definately in Mayo in 1820. I can't find any trace of them in Tyrone.

Hi Heywood

I contacted a Caulfield in Kilmovee and he told me a Hugh Caulfield married a Nora Moran around Kilmovee he doesn't know anymore only that Hugh had a few brothers one Owen. I cannot find Hugh's daughter and sons birth even though his daughter is on the 1901 and 1911 Roscommon census as a married woman saying she was born around 1840. Hugh is definately on the Griffiths I can go further as I have hit a stumbling block.

I am looking for the marriage of Hugh Caulfield to (Honora/Nora all variations) Moran in Kilmovee or around that district, Mayo.  They were probably married before 1840 as one of their children was born around 1840 as taken from her age in the 1901 and 1911 census. Hugh had a brother Owen. I also can not find any trace of either Hugh or Honora being born around that area though I do know she was born around Kilmovee.

Nice to hear from you.  I  now know that Edward Jackson married Mary McGoldrick - your line.  My relative was Ellen Regan mother of Edward Jackson.  She was Irish and came from Co Mayo.  My aunt would have known your relative as she emigrated to America and stayed with the Jacksons in Scranton. I don’t know for sure who the children of Edward and Mary were or if there are any descendants around today.

I would appreciate some help - perhaps I could help you as I do have lots of other info to do with the Jacksons.

Hi Annieme

Thanks for the info.  Yes, it would be the same name Carrownlacka/Carrowlackey (in Kilmovee) is/was spelt many different ways.

You say there is a Michael Jo Caulfield still living there.  How would I get in touch with him?  I think all the Caulfields from Carrowlackey are/were related so I'm sure I would be related to him.

It would be very helpful to get some info as I am stuck at the moment.

Hi Justin

Thanks for your reply.  I've had a quick look (as off out in a minute) at Eastmayo and Rootschat and they look promising.

I am looking for Hugh's marriage and his children's births so they may well be in the periods down as available.

Thaanks again

Eva
