Thanks Gadget and Stewart for the info.
Stewart we appear to share a common ancestor in John Brown and Mary Sinclair. I had already confirmed Mary Sinclair's mother and father as John Sinclair and Mary Clarke. I come from the Charles Brown line. In fact we still have the family home in Port Charlotte. At present i am in exile on the mainland but return home as often as i can.
In my book Old Islay, on page 9, is a picture of Neil Brown who was Charles Brown's grandson
Could we share information by e-mail?
I can let you have an old and modern photo of the house.
