Hi,
I am looking for info on the Gardiner family from Ledbury & surrounding areas.
I have so far
John Ernest Gardiner married Annie Mowbray (no dates as yet)
Ernest John Gardiner (b 1909, d 1986) Homend, Ledbury married Nancy Willis (b 1909 d 1982) Brickyard, Colwall in 1928.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi CazL200,

Through the census returns, there is a John Ernest who looks promising:

Thanks for the info Tanja, I will check it out.
One thing that is puzzling me is that on Ernest John Gardiner's (b1909) birth certificate it states that his father was John Ernest Gardiner, occupation pork butcher, but on his marriage certificate it states that his fathers name was William Gardiner, occupation butcher. Could John & William be the same person do you think?

I hate answering here because you never know... It's tempting to say somebody made an error on the marriage cert. They obviously should be the same person, huh?
Perhaps next time you have too much money you could check what it says for the marriages of his brothers? Or, if you have a GRO copy, have the original church record checked?
Sorry, I'm no help!
