Does anyone have any knowledge of Owen Owens who married a lady by the name of Jane Roberts. They were both from Amlwch. Owen was a mariner. Owen was born in 1850 and Jane was born between 1857 and 1861. They both moved to the Liverpool area in the 1880's. Any information on these peole would be much appreciated.

Hi
Thanks for the info. That is the correct family but the problem has been that we have never been able to find them on any other census. We feel certain that they were living in the same area at the time of the 1891 census but unfortunately we haven't been able to find anything.

Thank you for your response Owen Owens was also my husbands great grandfather. Although we have a copy of his death certificate we have very little information from prior to the time that he was living in Garston. We believe that he was from Amlwch and that at some point he may have worked there in the mines. He later became a mariner and eventually moved to Liverpool. Any information about him from his time in Wales would be appreciated. In particular I am trying to ascertain his date and place of birth and details of any other family members.

I own a clock by Owen Owen handed down through my family from Garston. My understanding is that Owen Owens operated as a clockmaker in Garston/Liverpool but only for a year or 2 c1850-1.
Do you think this is the same person?
Best
John

Hi
I think that there is a strong possibility that there is a link. Owen Edward Owens was a clock maker from Amlwch in Anglesey. He died in March 1857. There does appear to be a family link to Garston in Liverpool. In fact Owen Edward's son Owen William Owens, who was my husbands great grandfather eventually settled in Garston. We have been able to locate most of the baptisms of Owen Edward Owens children in the Amlwch Parish Register. The one that I have still to locate is that of Owen William Owens who was born in August 1850. If the family where living in Garston rather than Amlwch at that time, it may explain the absence of the entry.
