Post by: calmar on Friday 21 October 05 22:43 BST (UK)
Please could someone look for Charles Poole born Bewdley, Worecestershire c 1841.

In 1861 he is 20 years old and in Barracks at Gosport.

I would appreciate any details of him and his family.

Hi John,

Thank you for that info  - Great!! :)

I had found a birth on FreeBMD for Charles and it is registered in Kings Norton, Sept qtr 1841, so wasn't too sure if it was correct.

Is Kings Norton the registration district for Bewdley then? I can't find anything on GENUKI to tell me. In my innocence, I thought Kings Norton was nearer to Birmingham!

Regards,

Calmar

Hi
Bewdley registers in the Kidderminster district. the best link for this is

http://www.fhsc.org.uk/genuki/REG/

I would be surprised if this is the same Charles as Beoley is quite a different place to Bewdley, even if it is in the same county.
I can't help with the 1851 census but in the 1841 census for Bewdley there is a Thomas Pool, labourer, living Welchgate/Roadside in a family of 3 males and 5 females.

The IGI is not very good for parish records from Bewdley at this time but you might have luck if some one can check the BVRI for you. It will most likely be under Ribbesford if it is there - then again there were some independent churches too.
I'm not saying that the Beoley entry is the wrong one but I do think you should be careful as he says Bewdley in 1861 and 1881 :)

Hi Gardener,

Thanks for that info, very illuminating!!

Now you say that he says Bewdley on 1861 and 1881. Have you seen him on 1881 cause I can't find him?

If you have PLEASE tell me where he is!! :)

No, he was a Private in 8th King's Regiment in 1861 and in 1864 when his child was born!!??

So it looks like he is the wrong man. :-\

Sorry about that :-[

So to recap, the 1861 says Bewdley, and then he is missing from the census but has children 1864 and 1869?
tricky.... :)

Gardener,

I think you may be right after all ;D

I think that Bewdley and Bewley are the same place and this is my man. Not to be seen in 1871, but this regiment was in India then, so may be he re-joined and left his 'wife' and children. Can't find a marriage as yet for this couple.

Dear Sir. I wondered if you are related to the family of Henry poole of Bayliss green . Beoley Worcestershire.  He was a Son of Henry Poole from Solihull Warwickshire.  A farmer bricklayer !!

I am doing a family tree of his daughter
Elizabeth Poole ! Who was born 28 Oct  1828 in Beoley as well ! And had a family in Worcester.  Her Son was Alfred poole and her bloke was John Evans ! She kept the Poole name !

My name is Kevin poole from Worcester!  I be grateful for your'e help!
