Hi
Hope somebody can locate this man. I have his entry in 1841 as a publican in Horsehay. His census age indicates a birth date c 1801 "in county", but more than that I can't tell. Wife Margaret died in 1850.
Children are as follows
Ann 1823
Robert 1826
Ellen 1827
Margaret 1829
Lucy Emma 1834
Richard 1834
Thomas 1836
Henry 1839
William Edward 1842
All children were born in Dawley Magna. There were others but they died in infancy.
Hope somebody can help
Pauline

On my transcription this family all have the surname Young and are living at 43 Horsehay (Gorings House)

Thanks for the address. I'm still inclined to believe this is my family given the names of the children, plus it's called Gorings House. I wonder if it was originally the pub where Richard was the publican in 1841. Think I'll have to wait for 1851 to come on to Ancestry and have a look at the image to decide for definite.

pretty sure its Goring due to the way enumerator does his/her G and think definite dot over I. .Can also see how it could be transcribed as Young. It would be huge coincidence to have same group of children but anything can happen!

Hi Mumsiep,
Entered Richard Goring on the shrop, par, register disc (abt 1530 to 1825) no hits, however, I threw a wild card in,(tried Gor***) and got six hits. as follows,
ST, Marys, records.
1/march/1779 Richard, s,of Richard Gore & Eliza, bap.
(born 24/feb/1799)
this is the closest to your date of birth that I can find,
best regards, and happy hunting.
Pete.

Hi Mumsiep,
If your ancestor was an in keeper, and he was called Gore,
is it a possibility, that the locals called it Gores Inn.
which is close to your surname,
(just a thought )
Pete.

Hello,
I am researching this family in Liskeard area of Cornwall, specifically the ancestors of George Crago, born about 1803 in Liskeard.
Are you still researching the Crago family?
