Title: Electrical Wireman
Post by: caton on Wednesday 19 October 05 11:53 BST (UK): My great grandfather is listed in the 1901 census as an Electrical Wireman. Can anyone advise as to what this means.

Post by: behindthefrogs on Wednesday 19 October 05 12:42 BST (UK): By 1900 a large number of towns had Power Companies and were supplying electricity to homes mainly just for lighting. Your electrical wireman was probably employed somewhere in the process of installing this supply.
