Title: Electrical Wireman

My great grandfather is listed in the 1901 census as an Electrical Wireman. Can anyone advise as to what this means.
Many thanks.

By 1900 a large number of towns had Power Companies and were supplying electricity to homes mainly just for lighting.  Your electrical wireman was probably employed somewhere in the process of installing this supply.
