I'm hoping someone can help me break through this brick wall.
My Grandfather, William John PARKER, and his parents, are proving difficult to pin down.
I have his marriage certificate showing his marriage to Lillian THEOBALD in 1914 giving his age as 29. The marriage took place in Amersham, Bucks but I cannot work out his residence at the time, which appears to be somewhere in Northampton(shire) ( see image below ).
It also gives me his father's name as John William PARKER
I have his death certificate from 1949 giving his age at death as 64.
Try as I might, I cannot find a record for William's birth, nor any census info ( or at least none that I am very confident about ).
Anyone got any ideas to point me in the right direction, please?

It might be that he was know as John William after his father. Have you looked at this 1901 census entry from Frimley, Surrey...
John W Parker abt 1862 Frimley, Surrey, England Head, Coachman
Fanny Parker abt 1854 Fremington, Devon, England Wife
Francis T Parker abt 1888 Frimley, Surrey, England Son, Under-gardener
John W Parker abt 1885 Hampstead, Middlesex, England Son, Under-gardener
Hilda C Parker abt 1890 Frimley, Surrey, England Daughter
The occupations are interesting.
Could the names of the witnesses at his marriage help?
Best regards,
John

John,
Thanks for that. I don't know why I hadn't found that one. It certainly looks promising. Unfortunately, both witnesses were Theobald's from his wife's family.
I knew my grandfather was a gardener as family anecdotal history claims he was one of the original landscapers of the Model Village at Beckenscot ( Beaconsfield, Bucks ).
It might also explain one of my father's middle names of Francis. Certainly bears further investigation.
I am obliged to you Sir !

The address could be "Gayton" ..a village on the outskirts of Northampton.

peteu4 ,
I thought the only likely location was Gayton, from looking at the map, but it's a strange 'G'.
Looking at the occupation - which I read as Landsman - the 'L' seems the same, which is what was throwing me.
Certainly, I can't find the family in Gayton in 1901.
Not knowing any other details than those I've given, I still don't know how I'm going to prove any link ( such as the census info given by Calver above ) until my father appears in the 1931 census !! ( Typical he should be born just AFTER the 1921 census ::) )

The occupation reads "gardener" - he has used the same G for "Gayton"
