Title: Morrison/Patrick from Monimail 1841
Post by: Jill S. on Monday 17 October 05 18:18 BST (UK)
James Morrison married Janet Patrick/Peddie/Patherick in Monimail on 09 Dec 1810.  He was a member of the Fife Militia.

Has anyone else come across them in their research?  Many of their adult children appear in Dundee and Liff (in Angus) on the 1841 Census.

I can not locate the above parents.

Would someone be willing to check the 1841 Monimail census for James and Janet?

Hi Jill

Only just discovered this thread, from a Google search. I am also researching the Morrisons of Monimail and although I do not have Janet and James in 1841 I have them in 1851. Two years is a long time so you're probably already got the information but just in case!

The family is living in Cupar, Fife (Parish No. 420) at Toll House Carslogie

Alexander Morrison son b 1834 Monimail Linen Weaver
James Morrison head  b 1790 Falkland Tea Dealer Weaver
James Morrison son-in-law b 1816 Monimail Gardener
Janet Morrison wife b 1790 Monimail
Alexander Robertson adopted son b 1839 Falkland scholar

Regards

Ruby

Just found this on the GENUKI website, Cupar page -

"The original 1841 census returns were lost in transit to Edinburgh."

That's why we can't find the Morrisons in the 1841 census.
