Hi, I wonder if anyone can give me some advice about trying to find my Irish Gt. Gt Grandfather:
He was Michael Forkin, born circa 1820 in County Mayo. He married Mary, and moved to Burton on Trent, Staffordshire, England, where my Gt Grandfather James was born in 1857. Does anyone connect with this, and Is there any way I can ever find Michael in Mayo?
Thanks,
Susan.

Hi-
this site http://www.failteromhat.com
has Griffiths Valuation for Mayo- this took place, I think, late 1840s over a ten year period. There are some Forkins listed - seem to be concentrated in a couple of places.

Hi Heywood,
Thanks so much for the link. I found a Michael Forkin as witness to a marriage, but I don't know if he's my Michael.
In my forkin line there are lots of Thomas', Bridgets, James', Winifreds, etc... I wish they had broken tradition for a while and given at least one of their children an unusual name!!
I would love to find them.
Kind regards,
Susan
