Title: Marriage look-up
Post by: Katie123 on Sunday 16 October 05 09:11 BST (UK)
Hi,

Is there such a thing for Lincolnshire as a marriage index thing that gives witnesses names and things like that?  If so, could someone please look up WILLIAM TURNBULL marrying MARY (she was a widow at the time of her marriage; her first married name was MAWFORD but her maiden name was PORTER).  It would have been sometime between 1833-1841, probably in Spalding.

Many thanks,

Katie ;)

This is on the IGI

Mary MAWFORD to    William TURNBULL
Marriage:     25 AUG 1833      Weston, Lincoln, England

It may be correct - it is something that has been submitted, rather than a direct transcription from the PR.

Hi Katie,

Have just come across your message re Mary Porter/Mawford. Hope you are still using this site as am desperately seeking more info on Mary b c1790.

If this is the same Mary Porter her first husband was John Mawford (b c 1769) and their son William (b 1818 Moulton) was my 3 x g grandfather.
I have much info on William and his family but know nothing of his parents John and Mary apart from names.

I would really appreciate ANY information you may have on this couple.

Thanks Katie and look forward to hearing from you soon.

JJ

Katie

The Lincolnshire Family History Society marriage index confirms the details for the marriage except for the parish which was Moulton.  It also confirms the status of Mary as a widow.

Phillimore's transcription of the Moulton marriage register also includes this marriage.

Are the witness names important to you?
