Hi Jim,
On the Ellis Island website  http://www.ellisisland.org/  There is a William Crossingham and his wife, Margaret who arrived in the USA on 13/8/1895.  He was 48 & she was 38.  Could they be yours?

Jane

Hi - I am related to the wife William left behind!  I don't have the details at hand, but I have been in contact with a Crossingham researcher and IF I remember correctly, he ended up in Chicago.
Hope I can find the info. you need.
Diana.

As you are related to his wife ( Mary Barden ) do you have a death date for her?

Hi there,

William Tilden Crossingham went to America, Chicago and was in the Hotel business. His brother Thomas went to live in Caterham, Surrey and had a coal business, and a further brother, Charles, became at blacksmith at Rottingdean in Sussex.

I descend from William Crossingham of Tower Street Heathfield Sussex, through his daughter Jane Crossingham. He had a small shop and Beerhouse, called the Gibraltar Arms, in Tower Street.

Regards,

Graham Crossingham Gower.

Graham, was your ancestor Jane from another marriage?  I have three children listed for Mary Barden and William Tilden Crossingham - Mary Jane (died young), Leonard, and Alice.  I have not been able to trace Leonard, but Alice married Frederick Hipgrave.  She was born in 1867, Leonard in 1865.

Diana,

Unfortunately, I  have no information that would help you. What I do have is  background information and family history of William Tilden Crossingham and his wife Harriet Maria Croft.

My great aunt Ada Gower, whose mother was Jane Crossingham, was told much of the family history when young and she passed the information on to me. Also, there is a will of William Tilden Crossingham of Tower Street.

All the best

Graham.
