Look very interesting Sarah.
How do I go about posting a message, and can I post my main search and area?. Can I request help from fellow members for lookups and so fourth? ;D.

Please advise ???
Shelley

Shelly,

You post your question under the relevent topic.  If you are are asking a question about the census then you can post it under the census section or if it is more general to a county then use the county boards.

If you think you need a something different let us know and we can create a seperate topic for you.

When you have posted your question it gives everyone the option to reply to you.

To change your password, go to the "profile" button on the menu (which appears after you have logged on).  (http://www.rootschat.co.uk/forum/Images/profile.gif)

Also while you are there you can choose your family crest, or one that you are researching (or an image of one that is on the internet). On the same page, if you list the surnames you are researching in your "signature" then people can find these names when they carry out a search.

Have fun!
Trystan

Thank you for allowing me to become a member. ;D  I have been looking around your site and it looks GREAT!!  My family comes from Yorkshire and Northumberland, England.  I have been doing genealogy research for a year now........started with my husband's family and now on to mine.  I am so addicted that I absolutely lose track of time when I am on the net researching.  Quite a few scorched dinners here............. ;)  I will be back with queries I know..............Nancy

hi Sylvia,  :D

On a message you have posted yourself,  look in the top right-hand corner of your message,  you will see 3 icons to Quote,  Modify or Delete your message.

Click on <delete> and you will get a box asking you to confirm you wish to delete this message,  click <OK> and it should disappear.

Karen.

I agree about the site - absolutely fantastic

Even if others cannot help me with something they still give me the encouragement to go on searching. I couldn't have got as far as I have without them all.

I tell everyone who I speak to about it (even put the website address on emails to contacts on other sites  ;)  )
