Title: Can anyone find John HARVEY b1831 - Staffordshire - on 1851 Census???
Post by: suzanneharvey on Wednesday 12 October 05 13:44 BST (UK)
Hi there,

I am looking for some 1851 Census details on:

JOHN HARVEY born c1831 in Armitage, Staffs married FANNY RUSSELL  born c1827 in Lichfield, Staffs.

They had children: Charles,Eliza, Joshua, Sarah and George.

They would probably be on the Census in Staffordshire

JOHN HARVEY appears on the 1871 Census as HARVERY so he may appear on earlier Census records under either of these names.

Ideally, I would like information on John's parents and siblings.

Any help would be greatly appreciated  ;D

Hi

I'm looking for Harvey's in Staffordshire too around the Rugeley area just down the road from Armitage and have a very tentative IGI based tree back to 1735 - waiting for a chance to get to the records office one day!

In my tree I have

John HARVEY and Mary LAKIN married on 21 February 1831 in Rugeley.  Their children were Mary bp 15 June 1836 died after 1901 (mu husband's ancestress), Edmund John 1837?, Elizabeth 1838, James 1843,Fanny 1846, Amelia 1851, Hannah 1852, Isaac 1856 and Jane 1858.

I've always thought that having married in 1831 it was odd that they had no children until 1836 and never seem to have named a child after his father.  Since Armitage is only just down the road from Rugeley I wonder!?

Its possible that the two are related somehow!

However i havent got that far yet!

I am stuck at John & Fanny and would like to find John's parents, so i'm looking for 1851 Census details which should be online soon. Otherwise, i'm going to have to look for a marriage certificate

This is turning into a real puzzle now!!

John Harvey  is on the 1841, 1861 and 1871 Census records

So where is he in 1851???

In 1851, he would have been roughly 20yrs old.

Could someone search outside of Staffs. for him??

John Harvey was born in Armitage, Staffs  in c1831

Please help me before i go mad..............!!!

Sue  ???

Hi

1851 is searchable by name index only I'm afraid and as I'm sure you can appreciate there are ALOT of Harveys on it.

He might be in Lichfield if that's where Fanny is from.....I will have a quick look in Lichfield to see if he is there but I'm afraid I can't promise anything.

Hi

John might be easier to trace if you apply for the marriage certificate.  It will state on the certificate where they were living at the time of their marriage in 1853.

You have his parents in 1841 that was very kindly found by DMP (and believe me, the 1841 is no tea party to search through) so if he isn't with them in 1851 he could be absolutley anywhere :o

Sandra :)

I've found details of their marriage in 1853 which states that they were living in Armitage, Staffs at that time. (I've also ordered the certificate)

The only reason I can think for him not being in Staffs in 1851, is that he moved around for work. As many of the other members of my family, who were Coal Miners in Staffs, moved around to other countys eg Derbyshire.

But a big THANKS!! to everyone that has helped so far and keep trying for me  ;)
