Hi
Does anyone have access to the Childswickham parish registers. I am looking for a John Hoverd (have seen it spelt many ways including Holford, Halford, Overd, Havard etc). He was born c.1798.
Any information on him and Hoverd ancestors/relatives greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi
No, he is a different John Hoverd. Don't know where the connection is yet.
My John Hoverd is definitely born in Childswickham.
Thanks anyway,

Are you absolutely sure that these two are not one and the same. I've been researching HOVERDs for a number of years and I think they may be. I have him as being born in Shipton-on-Stour from records I found (census from memory) You may well have solved this by now but happy to help out. I know the family have led me a merry dance with the various spellings ::)
Cheers

Yes, definitely sure, as I have him on the 1861 census.
Thanks anyway.

Hi Mark
Yes, you are right - it has been bugging me all weekend. I've dug out my original source material and there he is at Uckinghall. I have yet to work out the connection of this family to any of mine - my lot are from Churchill, Oxfordshire. I am sure you've looked at all the variations of spellings as I have - dropping the 'H' seems to be a favourite, especially with the family from Ripple!
Best of luck
Anne

Hi Janet
Not sure I can be much help with this particular John - like others I seem to have come up against a brick wall. According to my research his son Charles moved to Cardiff, Wales and the name morphed into HOVORD - I have extracted births, deaths and marriages from the indexes but haven't seriously followed through on this line to date. I do know that your Charles married twice and had children. Happy to share anything I have and am always keen to hear from others researching this family name :)

Hi Anne
I seem to have missed your email sorry and You may also get two from me as one seemed to dissappear as I was typing. Charles Hovord from Cardiff is my link via his son Ivor Alexander. Ivors mother was Elizabeth Williams, I did not know Charles had married twice though, I have a little more info on the family but it would be easier if I sent directly to you, my email is westwellj@hotmail.com
hope to hear from you soon
