Looking at the new 1851 census I have discovered a 3times ggrandmother was born in Baltimore USA in 1819. She came to England at sometime . By 1844 she was in Westminster having given birth to my gggrandfather. Is there anyway of finding out more about her birthwithout having to subscribe to the American Ancestry site? Also are there any records of ships and poassenger lists to the UK?
THanks to anyone who could point me in the right direction.

Hello ringrose,
As far as I'm aware you can still use the USA records if you have a current subscription to the UK site. I usually go direct to ancestry.com then just login with your username & password as you would on the ancestry.co.uk site. I've just tried it & it still works.......
Happy hunting

Hello again- are you trying to go from ancestry.co.uk (I don't know if that works) or are you entering www.ancestry.com on the website address line at the top of your search engine homepage (& just underneath your toolbar)? Sorry if you're a fully fledged computer person, I'm not so don't know the proper names for everything!!!
I'll go and try it again (both ways) & let you know what happens......

Hi
I managed to get some records but when I wanted a full record it then came up with the payment to do so.

For that timeline there wouldn't be any lists - inward lists were kept only from 1878. Do you know if she married in the UK? You could also search for anybody with her maiden surname b. in the US in the 1851/1861 censuses... might catch some siblings that way.
And there are seperate subscriptions for the UK and US info, I believe...

Hi, For info in USA on Ancestry.com just click on all the web. You can buy 20 credits for £6.99. these last a week and can be very helpful. However no records are available for people leaving the US. It is a difficult avenue to research. If you have any idea on when they left you should try LDS , go onto familysearch.org. look up the dates for passports. You can order a tape which can be viewed at the church, this will cost less than £3 , you have a month to view . Good luck

Thanks
I will give your ideas a try.
