Dear AMY:
I am also looking for Army births in India around 1900, surname MUNSON.
I'd be greatful for any help.
Thanks!
:)

Dear Gillie,
I checked the GRO Army births indices and there were no JAYES entries between 1890 and 1905. There were a few JAY and JAYE though, please let me know if you want these. The index only gives the childs name not the parents, just for you to know.
Best Wishes
Amy

MUNSON, Frances Theresa, Bangalore, 1903
MUNSON, Nora Ellen (might not be Ellen but writing is very blurry) Mhow, 1904
Hope these are of use.

Dear Ryan,
Having checked the GRO Regimental Births Indices I can tell you that Frances Theresa MUNSON was born to a family attached to the 44th reg. (East Essex)
Furthermore, there are many more births to be found for this surname in the Regimental Indices, let me know if you want them.

Could you provide the christian names of ANY Jaye/Jay or JEYES Births please. The surname has been shown to be spelt in all of the above forms.

Hi Amy
I was wondering if in your indexes you might have any details of a Captain James Gordon GODDARD in India around the 1920s?
Thanks.
-
Hi Amy,
I am trying to help Munson researchers with overseas births. I have noted your item already to Ryan about births for Munson already and wonder if I could ask a big favour and ask for a fuller search for the names Munson and Monson in the indexes. Ryan has contacted me and I am trying to establish if Ryans family might be connected to two others interested in similar areas. ::)
-
I am a little bit busy until the end of the week but on the weekend I shall do
lookups for both MUNSON and GODDARD. Promise not to keep you waiting too long ;)
-
Amy,
I found that the Army births etc are now on 1837online and managed to get all the needed for MUNSON. Hope you haven't gone to too much trouble so far.
Many thanks for taking the time.

Hi,
Having seen your thread re births in India, can I ask for help?
My gt gt gt grandfather Benjamin Harris was in the 14th
Foot regiment, according to his record (obtained from Kew) he spent 16 years in East India, I only know of my gt gt grandmother Benedicta Harris, she was born & baptised in Tingewick Buckingham (Benjamin her father married Susanna Bayliss in 1804 in Tingewick) so I wonder now, knowing that he was in India from late 1814 until 1832, did he have his wife with him, and if so, were there any other children born in India?
Is it possible for you to help with this query?
I do not know all the places he would have been, the record was difficult to read, could however make out that he was at the Deccan Campaign,
Any help woulf be much appreciated thanks

Try the British Library in London. Their India Office section is really helpful.
oioc-enquiries@bl.uk
They hold a huge amount of records on Anglo India and Indian army and will probably search for you. Also try the new records on 1837 online, births, marriages and deaths in the Army.
