Hi James from Canada
NSW bdm lookups are available free online
http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/familyHistory/search.htm
I checked your folks and found
1007/1904 GALBRAITH RICHARD D 67 YRS CONDOBOLIN CONDOBOLIN
The indexes don't usually show age at death but when the parents names are unknown on the records, the age often appears. This marriage is online
2006/1872 GALBRAITH RICHARD D HAXALL SARAH DENILIQUIN but whether it is yours?
There are three deaths for Thomas Galbraith between 1892 and 1907. (and two marriages) 1856 and 1871
If you want to get information from any of the certificates the cheapest method is via a transcription service. Australian death certificates often show length of time in Oz, giving approx date of immigration. Given that the parents are "unknown" on these certificates, this information may also not be provided??

Hope this helps

Hi James & Trish. Your reply to James caught my eye Trish as I have Galbraith's in my family here in Oz around the mid 1860's from Deniliquin - a coincidence do you think James? Would love to hear from you.

Hi Trish,
I saw your posting regarding the Galbraith family. I am related to the Galbraith family. My Great Grandfather was Alexander Galbraith bn 1825 Ayrshire. He emmigrated to Australia in the 1840's. His parents were Janet Jamieson and James Galbraith.
Please let me know if this sounds familiar.
Regards ,
Lyn.

Hi All
I don't know whatever happened to James - I think I posted this many moons ago. I'm not related to any Galbraiths (as far as I know) - but if everyone keeps adding to the post hopefully you will all get together
