Title: Machell Family - Manchester
Post by: KrysEmery on Saturday 01 October 05 02:26 BST (UK)
Hi!

I am looking for information on the Machell Family in Manchester.

Theresa ? married ? Machell.  They had daughter Elizabeth Ellen Machell born 1q 1845 who married John Emery.

Any further information on any of these people would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Krys Emery

Wouldn't this be one where it's worth investing in the birthcertificate you refer to ?

Both questions you raise would be answered.

If you don't have this, and you have the mother's name from a census, then she just might be a second wife

Ignore this:- I've now seen the 1861 census

There are three Male Machell deaths on Free B M D for 1845/1861 David & Two Georges.

But I couldn't find a Manchester Marriage for either of these names on Free B M D or on Lancs B M D

Hi!

Thanks for your help.

As yet I do not have a birth certificate for Elizabeth.  I got her birth details from free bmd.

She had three children - Emmeline, Maud and Charles.  Charles' father is listed as John Emery and Elizabeth and all children are listed as having the last name Emery in the census but I am yet to find that Elizabeth and John were married.  Charles is orginially registered as having the last name Machell.

Charles (my g grandfather) married in Scotland and moved to Australia in 1911.

I am really trying to find out Elizabeth's father's name and finding it a bit hard to do from across the globe!  Any ideas of where to go from here would be great.

Also any records in teh 1841 or 1851 census would also be helpful

Thanks

Krys
