I have am having a real battle trying to locate a birth certificate and wondered whether anyone could give some advice.
My g.g.g grandmother was Susanna(h) Maria Whomes who I've located in the 1851 Census aged 5. Her marriage certificate has the name Susanna Maria Thomas on it, but this appears to be a clerical error.
However, I can find no record of her existence in the birth records. Is this a normal event for the area?

Hi Graham,
Found her I think:
Susanna Maria WHOLMES
GRO ref 1845 Dec Freebridge XIII 143
Also if you don't have her in 1861 census, this may be her:
1861 19 London Road, Kings Lynn RG9/1257 fol.142 p.2
Susanna WHOLME/WHOLMS (hard to read) servant 16 House servant born Nfk Gaywood
Hope this helps, Barbara

Thank you so much! I was positive I'd tried all the various possible alternative names, but I must have missed that one!
