Title: 9 Manor Crescent in Brighton?
Post by: Theresa on Monday 19 September 05 11:58 BST (UK)
Hi - would anyone know if 9 Manor Crescent in Brighton still exists?

It was there is 1944 and I have tried to get some estate agents to help but none seem to want to reply to emails!

If it does and there is a way to get a photograph of it, I know someone who would love to see the house in which they were born in 1944 but who now lives abroad.

Many thanks for any help.

There is a Manor Crescent in  the Whitehawk part of Brighton. It is off Manor Hill.

If you go to  http://maps.google.co.uk and put in Manor Crescent, Brighton - then increase map size you should be able to see it.

regards,

Mark :)

Here at home I have 3 Brighton Street directories.
Hi

I have some old street directories here at home.

In 1949 number 9 Manor Crescent was occupied by Mrs Moore
In 1958 number 9 Manor Crescent was occupied by Anthony E Cottle
In 1970 number 9 Manor Crescent was occupied by Geoge R Stewart.

Looks as though these were Council owned properties with a regular tunover of tenants.

Try writing to the present occupier enclosing a SAE and giving them a few snippets of info about the person who used to live there 60 years ago.  All you will waste is a bit of time and a stamp, but if they respond, the reward would far outweigh that.
