Title: Howel/Howell of Shropshire & Staffordshire
Post by: moltom on Sunday 18 September 05 14:36 BST (UK)
Seeking fellow researchers of this surname in Staffordshire (Brewood, Codsall, Chillington, Shareshill, Bushbury, etc) and Shropshire (Albrighton and surrounding districts).

Apparently, the Howells were a well-known Catholic family in Staffordshire.

Dear Doughty,

Thanks for replying.  Your names are not familiar, but I'll make a note of them just in case.

Good luck with your research.

Thanks for your reply, William.

My ancestor was Mary Howell, who married John Chopping in Brewood in 1756.

Other Howells in the surrounding areas include John, Peter, Ann, etc. but I cannot make any connections.

It seems Mary Howell and John Chopping moved to Brewood shortly before their marriage there, and that is why it is proving difficult to find Mary's parents and siblings.
