Hi all
Looking for Sarah Ann Fitzpatrick born around 1878 married to Robert Johnston born around 1884. Lived in Castlefinn, Co.Donegal. He was a rural postman in Castlefinn late 1800's early 1900's.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
Thanks
Louise

Hi Louise
Have you had any joy in finding anything about these two?

Louise hasn't been online since 2007. Since then several great Irish resources have come online, including 1911 census.
There is a Robert Johnston in Castlefinn D.E.D. but he's a blacksmith and wife is named Eliza Ann but son George is a postman- perhaps a connection?

Robert Johnston c1884 married to Sarah Ann Fitzpatrick c1883
Their records can be found on the 1911 census with D.E.D. Cloghard

I am now looking to go back the next generation, but i now have no more info to get back bar the 2 names and the fact that Robert was a Postman.
They had i believe 8 children
Emily
Florence Elizabeth
Edith Mary
Rebecca (Ruby) Jane
Ethel
Lena
Robert
Arthur Rolston
I'm the descendant of the Emily Johnston line.
If anyone can help....

you have one more important clue from the census to help find more details- at the time of the census they were married 5 years - i.e. c1906
You can search the Irish Civil Index for possible cross matches for the marriage, and order a cert which would bring you a step further. See: 2 Minute Introduction to Irish Records (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,442233.0.html) for details on searches, ordering certs etc
note the Familysearch index is undergoing maintenance at the moment and marriage searches may not be reliable
